When biotech-savvy investors think of immunology stocks, they tend to gravitate towards a name like Dendreon Corporation (NASDAQ:DNDN), which for all intents and purposes introduced the world's first cancer vaccine, Provenge, as a treatment for prostate cancer. Traders with a better-than-average knowledge of the immunology field may turn their attention to a company like CEL-SCI Corporation (NYSEMKT:CVM). CEL-SCI doesn't have a product on the market yet, but its head and neck cancer drug - which also uses immunology - is in Phase 3 testing right now, and looks very promising. There are other, and smaller, stocks within the world of immunology, however, that deserve a closer look from the market, and one of the most exciting ones further down the size scale is TNI Biotech Inc. (OTCMKTS:TNIB).

The S&P 500 (SPY) makes a new all-time high, but closes beneath that plateau for the year. The S&P 500 eclipsed its former all-time high close of 1565 on March 28th, faster than I anticipated. With the index now ending the week above 1700 for the first time, closing below 1565 for the year seems a distant memory. Not everyone was calling for a new all-time high to be reached in 2013, and investment bank equity analysts were targeting on average high single digit annual gains at the beginning of the year. I did not expect a 19.9% return through the beginning of August, but I will take it. Grade: BThe equal-weighted S&P 500 (RSP) outperforms its capitalization-weighted alternative. The equal weighted index has produced a total return of 23.34%, besting the market capitalization-weighted S&P 500. Long-time readers know that I have long extolled the virtues of equal weighting. The lagging performance of former top holding Apple (AAPL), which has 1/14th of the weight in the equal weighted index has contributed to the outperformance of the equal weighted strategy. Of course, you can't discuss Nokia exiting the smartphone business without talking about Microsoft (NASDAQ: MSFT ) entering the cutthroat market. The software giant has high hopes of further expanding into first-party mobile hardware following the launch of Surface last year. Microkia rumors have never come to fruition thus far, but that doesn't mean they won't eventually.

Microsoft Corporation (NASDAQ: MSFT) managed to turn in a gain of almost 2.1% to $36.80 on Friday. You can thank its earnings for this, as well as analysts taking their targets higher for the software and technology giant. The criticism remains over the post-Ballmer transition, so imagine how well it might have done (or will do ahead) if the CEO replacement is handled adequately and rapidly.

In Chipotle's earnings report, watch to see how the company responds to news late last month that Jack in the Box (NASDAQ: JACK ) would close 67 of its Qdoba restaurants, which compete against Chipotle in the Mexican food space. With its having demonstrated its superiority over its burrito rivals, Chipotle is still in a strong position to make the most of the industry's potential well into the future.

Andrew Harrer/Bloomberg/Getty Images Don't let the recent weakness at McDonald's (MCD) lead you to the conclusion that all burger flippers are struggling. It's just not true, and Burger King (BKW) proved that in its latest quarter. McDonald's longtime nemesis posted better than expected profitability during the first three months of the year, fueled by marginally positive comparable-restaurant sales for the period. It may not seem like much of a victory. Burger King's worldwide comps rose 2 percent, with its U.S. and Canada locations clocking in with a meager 0.1 percent increase. However, even that baby step up is better than the 1.7 percent decline at McDonald's. Unlike Ronald McDonald, Burger King isn't clowning around. The Whopper Beats the Big Mac? This would be an opportune time for Burger King to break away from the larger chain that it's been copying for years. We've seen Burger King offer up items that are blatantly similar to McCafe smoothies, Chicken McBites, Big Macs, Egg McMuffins, and even the cult fave McRibs. However, now that McDonald's is in a rut -- having posted three consecutive quarters of negative comparable-restaurant sales in this country -- it appears Burger King is ready to carve its own path. "We started off 2014 strong by generating comparable sales growth across all four regions during the first quarter," Burger King Worldwide CEO Daniel Schwartz explained in the fast food giant's earnings release. "Despite severe winter weather in the U.S. and Canada, our commitment to launching fewer, more impactful products and simplifying in-restaurant operations helped drive improved performance." If there's one thing in that statement that should stand out as a sharp contrast to the current strategy at McDonald's it's that Burger King is rolling out "fewer" products as it is "simplifying" operations. That's an entirely different strategy than the one being used by McDonald's, which seems to involve rolling out a lot of new menu ite

When judging a company's prospects, how quickly it turns cash outflows into cash inflows can be just as important as how much profit it's booking in the accounting fantasy world we call "earnings." This is one of the first metrics I check when I'm hunting for the market's best stocks. Today, we'll see how it applies to Pool (Nasdaq: POOL ) .
